What now dear President?

Now that we know a person, who says he was a member of a very dangerous group of Iranian men, has been captured and was partly responsible for actions that led to the death of an American soldier do we blame the country for this action? Was the timing of this action in order to allow for our extra ships to arrive? Do we now go to war with another country? What action can we levy upon a nation in order to make it move in our direction of liking? Would we march straight into Syria? Maybe stop by Lebanon to clean a little and then scrub the West Bank and Gaza for Israel? Are we so brash? Do we look so far down on people?

Maybe we need to attack Iran. And then destabilize Syria. We could hit Pakistani lands from other positions located in Iran. Maybe find some intelligence to root out Osama. What is the greatest number of countries that a single nation-state has ever occupied at once in a war like manner? We could cause such an uproar that the Arab League could bind together in such veracity that they will the Middle World Union to come about binding all of the region together in both economics and war. Maybe a balance of power in the world would be in everyone's best interest.

The Chinese are pushing to making the world bipolar and so are the Europeans. A fourth super power might be nice. Where would Turkey go? Wonder if we could help Africa a bit to create that fifth group? Where would Egypt and the rest of the Northern States go? Who gets to keep Antarctica? Do the Russians stay independent or do they warily bind with the Europeans and pull some of the former USSR along? Japan & Australia a staunch ally of both the EU & United States of North America? Who would the South Americans choose to buddy up with? The rogue island at the ball. So valuable. So beautiful. How does Asia react with India and China breathing so heavily?

Its a large world. Change is constant. Preposterous. Things will never change. There will always be stupid people in positions of power.

Russian Jets Flying Near

Russian Bombers Probing English Military Exercises

It is interesting to see that even in today's times brinkmanship is still quite healthy. The bear has chosen to stick its head farther out to the see how the gentlemen was doing in military exercises. Its almost like siblings fighting each other...except here is it just a bit of flying expensive jets with big bombs.

On a certain level, this scares the bejesus out of me. However, on many other levels, I think I am comfortable here. We need mature international relations. I tend to think of the countries of the Earth much like the ancient Greek city states. Among ourselves, we will fight like animals, but when there is a greater threat we will bond together. So I still hold some hope...

"The Russians obviously thought it might be worth coming to have a look at what we were up to and probably take some photos. It's a throwback to the Cold War when they used to fly in regularly to poke and prod at the edges of British airspace and test our reaction times. It's normal to let such aircraft know we're there by pulling up alongside them and they left quietly. The whole encounter probably lasted 20 minutes." - Keith Wardlaw, Sqn Leader

$465 Billion Dollars ($465,000,000,000)

What would you do with $465 Billion dollars? The Boston Globe put together some pretty pictures.

You really don't even have to read much to get the point here.

Russian Intelligence Sees Buildup of American Forces on Iranian Border

Countdown to Iran?

British troops on Iranian TV. American War exercises going on in the Gulf.

A war in Iran is a different beast. We cannot hope to truly ever defeat Iran. We would merely punch it very hard, damage its infrastructure, punish it economically via the show of American technological might and set them back a few years in development. The Persians were smart people and are still around doing quite well in 2007. We will harden the resolve of some, as there are plenty who would enjoy a war with us within the country. There will be many who are in that in-between group who will move toward hate. There are many children who will grow with an ingrained desire to fight back against the US and its Western ideas and allies. People will die.

The current rulers of the world were probably born starts around the 1920's and through the 50's. There is a lot of history inside of them. They have managed to weather getting to the heights of their respective groups through a dizzying variety of skills (the Corporate world makes me more cynical daily). The mentality is of survival.

When might we evolve a bit further?

Iran

British Troops Under Arrest in Iran

This could be it. This could be the logic to go to war with Iran. Another step.

And while rooting around I found this...

British Troop Seizure Planned in Advance

Maybe it isn't it...I think I want us to not be in a position of absolute power. I think I want my country to be in a healthy competitive environment. We fuck with them. They fuck with us. It generates evolution. The constant washing machine of this struggle on our planet. We are socialized now. We are primed.

The Intricate Web of Reason: Just one TINY piece

Ode To All That is Good

I read an article somewhere today that was speaking about Iran’s new position of power in the Middle East now that Saddam and the Taliban are no longer players in the arena (at least for the short term with the Taliban holed up in Pakistan). Another opinion I read is that Iran is much less amicable to speaking at round table discussions now that General Bush’s teeth hang been sheathed by the Congress and the seasonal winds of the politician and their job. I see the helicopters are being sot down at a greater rate. I see our numbers re not great enough, nor well versed enough in local civilities and customs to truly apprehend those who are running the show (back when the children of Saddam were being round up I remember one of the brothers making reference to times when he drove by troops in cars looking right at them point blank). I see Saudi Arabia building a fence as well as Israel. I see Palestine stabbing itself over and over. Syria ever intertwined in Lebanon. Beirut is torn again. She will rise again. Her beauty is far deeper than skin. Jordan has been touched by the terror as well. Each of these countries now discuss a nuclear alliance in order to counter the nuclear threat of Iran. An arms race has already begun now that the plans have begun to be drawn (in this world the plans were probably drawn 5 years ago). I bet the United States sells the tech to the Saudis. Fuck ‘em. And the Chinese. Business is good. Why hasn’t the growing threat pushed Egypt to do something more? The squawking country is doing its best to fan the Israelis. So when is the Middle East going to raise a tactile force of all local soldiers from some magical place and lend a supporting hand. Yes, they will be in harms way. That is war. And yes their particular motives may all be different, and some potentially evil, but we cannot let a country like this with such a history in such a place, be destroyed as it is and will be. A surge will simply make them hide better. Hidden away in a culture that we can’t seem to get. Now…the countries in arms possibly might not due to the price of oil being so much a boon to some economies, and unsteadyness breeds good pricing. But the demand from China is now growing madly, with the rest of the world just getting going a little better every year, business should fade away in the name of a true threat. A wild, deadly armed, ultra powerful and widely spread enemy that you have no defense from.

I have slowly become more and more in line with the nuances of the grand negotiating table and how the world really is…versus how it might be. Countries really do attempt to take over others and influence their politics. Vacuums of power cannot exist as there is too much at stake (trillions of dollars, defense to your position and family). One group will always rush in to quell the situation as man without government has not proven himself free. We still need our shackles otherwise we tear down on each other.

Just a rant of sorts I guess…
