Floating in the ether...

That's pretty cool, an extra swing around the planet...

"Endeavour was supposed to land before sunset, but at virtually the last minute, clouds moved in. As the astronauts took an extra swing around the planet, the sky cleared enough to satisfy flight controllers and -- after asking Gorie for his opinion -- they gave him the green light to head home."

Corporate Socialism

The Fed coordinates sale to JPMorgan of Bear Sterns

For those of you who don't pay attention to the markets and the movements of the big money people in the world, you are so smart. For those of you who declare yourselves capitalists and believe in competition and that the government has a duty to the people as merely their servant and nothing greater, you would be upset.

The Federal Reserve, a debatebly independent arm of the government United States of America has chosen to fund the purchase of a Wall Street firm who chose to act in a fiscally irresponsible manner in order to keep it from going under. In essence, we have chosen to threw a basic tenet of capitalism out of the window, that being that in the markets the strong will survive and the weak will pass on.

Your money, your taxes, your hard work and your future are being utilized to allow one of the largest banks in the world to bail out billionaires and millionaires because they chose to invest in investments that were well know to be foolish.

We are no longer capitalists in this country. We are weak. We are fat. And we have forgotten what it is like to live in a world in which we must compete.

Good riddance to us.

Nerve-tapping neckband used in 'telepathic' chat

"A neckband that translates thought into speech by picking up nerve signals has been used to demonstrate a "voiceless" phone call for the first time. With careful training a person can send nerve signals to their vocal cords without making a sound. These signals are picked up by the neckband and relayed wirelessly to a computer that converts them into words spoken by a computerised voice."

I am not sure if I have too much value to add to this...read the article - there is a YouTube video of it working.

You are math. You are data. Believe the truth and you can become greater.

Just a cool email today...

No philosphy...well, actually there is. Proof of evolution. Leftover body parts. Oh and we do now believe we know the purpose of an appendix and we should be very happy we still have it (link to article here), especially when we take off into space to rule the universe.

Now, the real article i wanted to send - Useless Body Parts

Cool.

Cat Ownership Correlated With Heart Health

Cats Help Shield Owners From Heart Attack

Of course, I have also been told that if you died and your cat ran out of food, your cat would eventually start to eat you, whereas a dog would simply die right next to you. Hrmm...My cute little kitten would never eat me? :-)

What a great idea.

Why wouldn't we pay the people whose job it is to craft the minds of our future generations a real salary that allows money to be less of an issue when making a decision concerning employment? Teaching. The most amazing of human things we could do. To disburse knowledge across a wide body of humans. The reason we are so damn successful as a species is that we are able to take the things we learn, catagorize and give them to everyone. We learn. We change. We teach.

NY Times: Teaching so Very Important
