Love: II Continued

The animal would evolve. It would see, on a long term scale, that those who appreciate the fact that there is another out there who cares for them on a level that they care for themselves and who is there to help them survive. Nature, in its wild ways, will choose for that individual that learns to socialize because that individual will do better because of the support it gains. One individual plus another individual working together is greater than two individuals working separately (or maybe even three or four working separately) and because of this, they will become greater. They will learn to define this relationship as something never before seen and they will seek it out as there is a primordial understanding of the benefits of the social beast.

This would lead to off spring. And since there has been no purpose of life other than to reproduce and fill the world with its strain of genetic code, the one who not only allows you to pass yours on but pushes you to because of their similar desire becomes even more valuable. A mother bear will attack anything, no matter the size or ferocity that comes between it and its cub. It is protecting itself. The cub is an extension of it. The bear is not a single animal randomly placed in time and space to consume nature and pass on its minerals. It is part of a long line of creatures that have been perfected by the pangs of growth over many millennia to push farther and have more off spring in the world. It is what it does. And anything that benefits it on a continual basis will be seen as valuable. Over time, those emotions will evolve. The bond will become stronger that they recognize. As the being moves toward its next level of existence it may even begin to recognize this emotional attachment to others that have certain characteristics. It will act upon this emotion on an even greater level such as to lead to a circle in which it ties itself and its advancement in the world to this emotion and having that emotion allows it to advance greater. Love will be created when one becomes so at ease with this emotion that it no longer acts out of self interest but then begins to conceive of its existence as part of a grander whole that extends farther beyond it. love of the world and the caring, tender beings in the world around it.

Love is rational. The grand picture of it leaves us without doubt as to how we came to be with it. the picture is clear. We just need to look through the fog between it and us.
