Emotions

Human emotion. I love our emotion. Every day I love it more. Slowly I am coming to appreciate the human being. Human emotion is the randomizer. We get these feelings in relations to a subject. Somewhere is this mix is a chemical enhancer…imagine the situation.

The corporate beast pushes. Continually pumping and pulling. Energy comes in through the people. It then distributes its power all over the building, in one form or another. And each of those areas of the corporation does something different. But they all work together in a very interesting manner. Their interactions change continually because of the various rates of usage in relation to the other areas of the business. Picture this…overall, you can predict a corporation’s success over the long term (i.e. The NYSE). But within each department you can only predict so well. And within each individual you can do very little. But in the end you have a vivid interesting and amazing creature feeding and pushing and pulling, making decisions in different directions (sometimes right and sometimes wrong – but isn’t that process of “success” only that more involved). The corporate machines make decisions independent of their runners sometimes based upon the odd group consensus that occurs across the face of the business. The corporate machine takes on an odd sort of existence, it has arisen from this vast group of pieces pulling in very interesting directions relative to each other (i.e. in many dimensions). Sometimes from it can come randomness. Or maybe purposeful incorrect decisions in order to get to other ideas. Or maybe just in sufficient knowledge and capability to factors out all of the doubt in any particular situation. Our lack of intelligence might be a good thing…we aren’t perfect computers with perfect knowledge. Just computers.

Now…replace that corporation with the human brain. You might conceive the people and neurons…maybe nodes and departments could be physical areas of the brain. From this inside somewhere…there might be close to randomness due to lack of knowledge or whatever…it is an interestingly interacting thing. Too much imagination mixed in the math and some emotion might create some odd chemical reactions causing neurons to fire off under different than normal circumstances and in an oddly timed manner which causes a memory retrieval electricity movement to take a different path to wherever it comes and goes from and it intersects another piece of information earlier than it normally does and under different circumstances…and suddenly, you have a new molecule of thought. A physical representation of your mind in the charge of some electrons. In chemistry order is everything.

From this new interaction…we have a new thought. And new way of interacting with and defining nature possibly. A new way of understanding the universe. Emotions.

I think I appreciate emotion now a touch more…and the group of people who have less hormones…men and women I am sure…they are bred in by the corporate beast. The corporation is the ultimate breeding ground and the corporation chooses pretty, not crazy, safe and normally decent people. Economic evolution.

Good night.

Aristotle had something to say about all this - http://www.ul.ie/~philos/vol8/aristotle.html.

Humans do not do what is logical most of the time. Emotion is the override that leads to all that's interesting about life.

Corporations pick out the most conformed of us, and then try to make us conform more (uniforms, dress codes, style guides, etc...). Fitter, happier, more productive. These people do not change anything, nor do they do anything ground-breaking. It's the "crazy" ones that change the world. Warhol, Nash, Blake. Crazy corporation owners flying around the world on a hot-air balloon. The factors we don't understand are the one that make the greatest impact. Everything else is interchangeable and easily recreated.

Or maybe I'm just crazy.
